Welcome to the Finnish School for the East Midlands!

The school was founded in January 2009 and is largely funded by the Finnish National Board of Education (Opetushallitus; www.oph.fi) through Finland Society (Suomi-Seura: www.suomi-seura.fi). We are also supported in the UK by Finn-Guild (www.finn-guild.org).

The purpose of the East Midlands Saturday School, as well as other Finnish schools globally, is to advance education in the Finnish language and culture. The classes are aimed at children whose parent or parents are of Finnish descent. We also have adult lessons during the Spring Term 2010. We also provide a venue for the Finnish community to get together on an informal basis. All Finns, their families and friends of Finland of all ages are welcome to the school, either to participate in the classes or just to pop in for a chat and a cup of Finnish coffee and cakes.

We have now moved into the new premises in Narborough. Our school year will restart in the Robjohn Hall on September 11. We will continue to take new students to both our children's groups and adult group. See About Us, Learning Finnish,School Dates and News for further information.
